Leave right from the Up North Adventures shop and within minutes be pedaling under a canopy of boreal forest, surrounded by a symphony of bird calls and the scent of wildflowers which decorate the forest floor. It isn’t long before the busy “big city” disappears and you feel like you’re miles from nowhere, largely because you are! Without a motor disturbing the experience, the mountain bike allows riders to have fun while truly becoming immersed in the peaceful isolation of the Yukon wilderness.

Mountain Biking along Miles Canyon, Whitehorse Yukon
Our guided mountain bike adventure offer riders the opportunity to explore and enjoy the wilderness trails around Whitehorse without having to deal with the logistics.

Riders can stop at historically significant areas such as Miles Canyon and Canyon City. Here your guide can share the amazing story of the early stampeders who had to navigate the treacherous waters of Miles Canyon and the Whitehorse rapids on their journey to the Klondike Goldfields. Some trails pass by the weathered remains of old trappers cabins, left behind from early settlers in the area

Aside from the history and natural beauty, the riding itself is sure to please. The huge variety of available terrain allows for challenging and satisfying rides for everyone from beginner to experienced. Mellow, double track loops with low elevation change, and technical single track trails wind their way through the hills, along ridges and around lakes. Lose yourself in the rush of challenging yourself on a bike or just enjoy the fresh air and soak in the amazing scenery on a milder ride.

It is also possible to shuttle to the top of Grey Mountain for stunning views of the whole Whitehorse area stretching from Marsh Lake to Lake Laberge. From here riders can enjoy a fun bike ride back down the road before entering the forest on wide ATV trails that head all the way to town. For those more experienced, it is possible to descend 2000 feet from the ridge of Grey Mountain all the way back to town on steep ATV trails and single track that will leave you grinning ear to ear and planning your next trip to Whitehorse just for the mountain biking!
