Pelly River Self Guided Trip
The Pelly River can be started at Ross River or Faro, and you can paddle to Pelly Crossing or continue all the way to Dawson City. The Pelly is born in the Selwyn Mountains and flows east towards to the Yukon River. Many lynx live here, and black bears often forage on open, south-facing slopes. The Pelly flows through the ‘Tintina Trench’, which is a major flyway for Arctic migratory birds. Ross River to Faro contains class I water, Faro to Pelly Crossing is class II (but possibly class III at high water), and Pelly Crossing to Dawson City is class I again.
