Guided Teslin River Tour

10 days / 9 nights   6 Guests / Guide   Difficulty: Suitable for all levels of paddler   370 Kilometres (230 Miles)

The Teslin River is a very enjoyable and relaxing ride as it flows from Teslin Lake to the confluence of the Yukon River at the historic Hootalinqua NWMP station and Telegraph post. The Teslin River is a scenic and historical paddle, which offers excellent wildlife viewing opportunities and leaves you with unforgettable memories. This river is perfect for adventurers looking to get introduced to paddling as well as the wilds of the Yukon.

Day 1:
Arrival in Whitehorse. The Up North Adventures shuttle will greet you at the airport. Meet the other trip participants where your guide will verify your personal gear and go through any last minute questions. Participants are then invited to explore the City of Whitehorse, enjoy a good meal or take in some historic sights on their own. Enjoy your first night in Whitehorse in a downtown hotel (included in price) located, within walking distance of many attractions and restaurants.

Day 2:
Group officially meets at 10:00am at the Up North base in Whitehorse. After a quick gear review to make sure participants are properly equipped, we will be shuttled by van to Johnson’s Crossing, about an hour drive, and the start of our Teslin River adventure. The afternoon will be spent getting acquainted with our boats and gear and paddling the river for a few hours. A relaxing evening will be spent on the river shore complete with a roaring campfire and hopefully fresh fish!

Day 3 – 8:
The canoe trip down the Teslin River is underway. Continuous highlights include wildlife with potential sightings of grizzly bear, wolf, moose, caribou, wolverine, mink, bald eagle, martin as well as world class fishing. Beautiful mountain views surround us as we flow down the river. Camping in tents and eating by the campfire while under the “midnight sun”, provides the foundation for a truly unique wilderness experience. Other highlights include a visit to the ancient First Nations encampment of Big Salmon at the confluence of the Big Salmon and Yukon Rivers, and Cyr’s dredge, a derelict from the 1898 Yukon Gold Rush.

Day 9:
We arrive in Carmacks at the end of our Teslin River adventure. The Up North shuttle will pick us up around 1:00 pm and return us to Whitehorse. Arriving in Whitehorse by late afternoon the group will part ways after sharing an unforgettable adventure. Participants will spend their last night at a downtown Whitehorse hotel (included in price).

Day 10:
Departure day. We will bring you back to the airport or you can start your next adventure.

Note:
Due to the expeditionary nature of this program, changes to the itinerary are a possibility and are left up to the discretion of the guide. All attempts will be made to complete the trip within the outlined timeline.
